Family Services

Caring for a child with complex medical needs can present unique challenges to special needs families. Often, parents find that they are either unable to work outside of the home, or they are severely limited in the number of hours that they can work due to the medical needs of their child. This can create significant stress on families both financially and emotionally. Fortunately, in the State of Colorado, there are two different ways to become a paid caregiver through the Colorado Medicaid program: (1) as a Certified Nurse Aide through the parent CNA program, or (2) as an IHSS Attendant through the In-Home Support Services program.

Family Caregiver (CNA)

AFK helps family members get their certificate to become a Certified Nursing Aide (CNA). You could be paid to be your child’s caregiver.

In-Home Support Services
